Hi, I'm Sharni
I'M SO GRATEFUL YOU'RE HERE
My inclination toward photography comes from my parents, who both shared a deep interest in capturing the world around them. My father is a classic nostalgic, photographing weddings in his youth and then transitioning to documenting our family life for the archives, while my mother spent years both photographing and painting the wildlife around us. Growing up around their work gave me my sentimentality and an appreciation for capturing real people and real moments.
This foundation later merged with English literature studies at University. Immersing myself in classic texts and narrative structures taught me to look closer; to observe character, pacing and the subtle nuances that bring a story to life. That literary lens translates directly into how I capture details today, whether focusing on spaces, human connection or fleeting moments.
In my day-job as a Creative Director, I bridge the gap between narrative and strategy. I translate these visual stories into meaningful design and marketing, ensuring every image serves a purpose.
Today, my practice is split between building distinct identities for brands, documenting family archives and creating character-driven animal portraiture. Rather than forcing a scene, I use a quiet, observational approach to capture how each moment felt. A romantic at heart, I believe that life is simply a narrative of moments, and I'd like to document them all.
I am available for editorial, commercial, and personal projects across the Sunshine Coast and beyond. Each change of season brings me back home to the Northern Rivers, where I am available for local commissions.
